CHARITY RUNNERS DONATE £1000 TO CANCER RESEARCH UK

Four members of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust’s under-18s side and two of our staff members have raised £1,000 for Cancer Research UK

The players along with staff members Mark Challen and Josh Hurst ran the Yeovil Half Marathon in March to raise money for the charity and the Trust.

They presented the cheque to the Crewkerne Relay for Life committee to put towards its own target of £25,000 for the charity.

The committee is looking for teams to take part in a sponsored walk around the track at Wadham School in Crewkerne over a 24-hour period, reflecting the fact that “cancer never sleeps.”

The event gets underway at midday on Saturday, July 22 2017 with a closing ceremony the following day, with themed hours including wearing a silly hats and underpants worn on the outside of clothing to recognise brain tumours and bowel cancer respectively.

The event will have a festival feel with live music and other forms of entertainment, stalls and food which people can come along and enjoy.

If anyone is interested in entering team, going along as a survivor or being involved in the event should email enquiries@crewkernerelay.co.uk or visit the Relay for Life website.
