Two players to be awarded contracts by the Yeovil Town Academy have thanked the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust for helping their development.

Riley and Max both began their footballing journey in our football development programme which they say has given them the skills and confidence to make the step up.

Both were given six-week trials by the Academy having been spotted playing in our programme and now have two-year deals.

Riley said: “Without the work the coaches in the development centres have done with me, I simply would not have reached the standard required to get an Academy contract.

“The experience of playing against teams from across the area developed my understanding of the game and concentration, as well as giving me confidence and an experience of dealing with coaches.

Max was offered a six-week trial by the Academy after one season playing for our Junior Premier League teams.

He said: “My time at the development centre improved my technical ability and key skills like reading the game and what I needed to do when I did not have the ball.

“The Trust’s coaches were knowledgeable and gave me the confidence to learn from everything I was doing with them and then put that in to practice on the pitch.”

The Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust’s programme works with players from five to 16 years old and aims to improve both the technical and tactical side of their game.

We have development centres located across Somerset which hold weekly sessions to develop young players.
